Recipes
Planning the food spread for a party is always exciting, and this theme offers countless opportunities to get creative with the menu.
Spell book brownies
Get ready to unleash your inner baker with this simple tutorial on how to turn basic brownies into the iconic spell book of the Hocus Pocus movies.
Begin by preparing your go-to brownie recipe (or opt for the convenience of a boxed mix – no judgments here!). Once the brownies have cooled, it’s time to tap into your creativity. Grab a tube of black gel icing and add stitching details, simple horizontal dashes along one side and the corners will do the trick.
Now for the magical finishing touch! Place a candy eyeball at the center of the right edge, fully bringing your spell book brownies to life.
The sisters charcuterie board
This Sanderson Sisters meat and cheese board was the main character of my social media feeds last year and it’s pretty clear why. This twist on the classic dish will be the star of your Halloween party!
If you’re new to charcuterie boards it may take some trial and error, but with a little practice it is sure to turn out perfect! Let’s break down the key elements you’ll need to consider when selecting ingredients.
The witches’ faces can be easily achieved with either a round block of cheese or a dip in a round container. Choose a mix of the 2 to add variety to your board!
For the hair, rolled pepperoni or salami is the clear winner for Winifred’s red hair. Sarah’s blonde hair can be achieved with light yellow cheese cubes, crackers, or even popcorn. And for Mary’s dark hair, try blackberries or blue berries.
The red, green, and orange outfits are where you can really get creative. If you like more sweet treats on your board, you can opt for various colored fruits like grapes, oranges, and kiwis. If you prefer savory items, I’d recommend carrots, sliced peppers, and cucumbers.
Don’t forget to add cut pepper or olive pieces to represent the eyes and lips!
Once you’ve formed the sisters, fill in the remaining space with your favorite charcuterie options!
DIY Project
Spell book album
Check out this Hocus Pocus Spell Book Journal, which can serve as a versatile keepsake from your event. Place the journal with a polaroid camera at your party and encourage guests to add photos and memories from the evening. Alternatively you could print print pictures of the event and use it as a scrapbook to relive the occasion again.
Light up and bubbling black cauldron
No witch party would be complete without a mystical cauldron to brew spells in! This DIY decor piece will serve as an eye-catching centerpiece, capturing everyone’s attention at your event.
For this DIY you’ll need:
- A black cauldron or bowl
- Plastic clear ball ornaments
- Glue dots or another form of adhesive
- Battery operated lights
While you can purchase each of these things separately (or perhaps you already have some on hand), I found this awesome kit on Amazon with everything included!
You simply place the lights inside of the cauldron and begin stacking the ornaments, using glue to fix them together. As you arrange them, aim for a bubbling-over effect, evoking the sense of magical concoctions at work.
You could even incorporate a smoke effect around the cauldron to take it to the next level.
I hope this article has provided you with helpful insights and inspired you in your party planning endeavors. Wishing you the best as you bring your Hocus Pocus themed party to life!
